Welcome to Camp Whispering Pines. We hope you will feel as comfortable on our website as you would by our campfire. Please take some time to browse our site to learn more about Camp Whispering Pines.

Camp History

A historic community surrounds Camp Whispering Pines. The site on which the camp is located was once a landmark. In the early 1800's the Hotel Citronelle was built, then later the Citronelle Chautauqua Auditorium was added. The Chautauqua Auditorium was a very popular outing for many Mobile residents because of its plays and musicals. The Mobile Ohio Railroad expansion caused Citronelle to blossom from 1811 until 1851. The land was purchased in 1946 by the Mobile Baptist Association and summer camps were begun by 1947.

Not far from Camp Whispering Pines is the sight of the Civil War's last surrender. The Confederate forces surrendered to the federal troops in 1865 to bring an official close to the War between the States.

Citronelle is still a quiet little town in the heart of the South. Visitors are welcome to come and enjoy the serenity so appreciated by the residents.
